by John Gaudio, (Written as he spoke, I'll try to fill in the details later.) Les is working with something new called Walking Orbit. Health software is something very special. It helps to determine what we eat and how we live. It's a cooperative effort with people all over the world. Les is also working on complementary currency projects. It's like a babysitting pool that gets ratcheted up. Les is the head of IT for the complementary currency project. Imagine that with the Internet we no longer need banks. Expand the babysitting model to include forty million people by paying someone on the Internet with non currency currency. One example is frequent flyer miles. In Thailand you can pay your hospital bill in frequent flyer miles. (At about a tenth the cost it would otherwise cost.) Imagine an alternative way of paying one another. Something called a "Universal Currency" "Money 2.0 perhaps ;-)" It's time for a "new money." How many are using Skype? Les spends 5-6 hours a day on the "phone" with Skype, including conference calls with five to six people. It also makes it possible to transfer files and other information. Les looks at the client as his employees. If they want something they send the programmer "tickets." While the company is really just Les and his wife, he effectively has sixty "employees" and commonly interacts with forty of them on a given day. Les' wife is teaching health classes over A Skype connection. It's a new way of doing business. After several years of pessimism Les is finding that things are coming very much alive. Any group can print their own money. One organization prints "In Ithica we trust" on their currency. The IRS says that if you provide professional services, and that barter is also taxable. Les also offered to help any of us at EntConnect to get familiar with Skype. Download it at Skype.com and get in touch with Les at lsquires@wwdn.com. Thanks again, Les, for all your help. |
