by John Gaudio, I saw Guys and Dolls last Wednesday, when the part of Sarah Brown was played by understudy, Sara Seever. Her voice was delightful, and her performance superb. If the understudy is this good, the star, Tamara Jenkins, must be truly amazing. It's a classic boy meets girl love story, the 1955 movie starred Frank Sinatra and Marlon Brando, of gamblers far more concerned with honoring their markers than obeying the law. Gambling is their world, but these "Guys" love their "Dolls" almost as much as they love shooting craps. If you're looking for a light hearted musical comedy with great songs like "Luck be a Lady," "Sit Down, You're Rockin' the Boat," and "More I cannot wish you," check out Guys and Dolls, playing through May 6, 2007 at the Country Dinner Playhouse. Though it's been an important part of Denver's theatrical community since 1970, the Country Dinner Playhouse isn't technically within the city and county of Denver. Located near I-25 and Arapahoe Rd., You'll find the Country Dinner Playhouse at 6875 S. Clinton St., Greenwood Village, CO 80112. You can reach the box office at 303-799-1410. Paul Dwyer, the Executive Producer/Artistic Director has been at the Country Dinner Playhouse since 2000, and always puts on a great show. Coming up this year are Evita, and Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. Check out the links below for details. |
