by John Gaudio Google the term flipswap, and as of today you'll find that a MyST BlogsiteTM, Blog.TeleTracker.com holds positions 5 and 6 in the top ten for that term. Not bad given that it's referenced only briefly in a post talking about the partners TeleTracker brought with them last week to CTIA. The reference to flipswap is just one of many hundreds of hooks that people searching Google, Yahoo, MSN Search, and other search engines can find when looking for something related to the world or wireless retail. Talking about a partner on your blogsite makes good sense, but a competitor? Why would anyone use their own blogsite to advertise for their competition? It would be crazy, right? Crazy like a fox. Search engines easily find the material on a MyST BlogsiteTM, so people looking for your competitor are likely to find that competitor on your blogsite. Every time this happens, your competitor is paying to advertise your products and services, because the people who see your competitor's ads, and search for your competitor, often find that competitor on your blogsite, along with all the information that shows them you're better. In short, to quote my friend Bill French, "Blog about your competitors so much that it's hard for readers to tell if they're your competitors or your partners." Bottom line, blog early, and blog often, about your competirors as well as your partners! :-) You'll be glad you did. |
