by John Gaudio, The world is filled with attorneys. A few are hacks. Most are competent professionals in their fields of expertise, and a some are real gems. How can someone in need of an attorney, find one who knows how to handle the issue at hand quickly, efficiently, and successfully? By asking Google. Other search engines work too, of course. Yahoo, MSN Search, etc., but Google is king. Whatever search engine you use, ask for precisely what you want. Try something like Real Estate Attorney in Denver, CO; Child Custody, Divorce, Aurora, CO; or patent infringement defense. Google will search literally billions of pages on the Internet to help a potential client find the best lawyer to meet his needs. So how does Google decide which of those billions of pages are the best matches? First comes content. Pages with good content, relevant to the question asked Google, will tend to show up on top. Second comes the platform on which that good content lives. Put outstanding content on an outstanding platform, and your content will be easy to find. The best platform I've found for this is the MyST Technology Platform, and the best tool I've found for bringing good content to the top of the search engines, is a MyST BlogsiteTM. If you're an attorney looking to attract the best clients for your practice, blog about the solutions you've created for your existing clients. Be specific about the problems you've solved for them, and the needs they brought to your practice. Educate future clients on their options, ways to avoid problems, and resources where they can learn more. Let the search engines, and the potential clients who ask them every day for solutions to the legal issues you've blogged about, find some of the rich content that you've created. Show the world, through your blogsite, that you're one of the gems in your particular area of expertise. Next month, at noon on July 25th, I have the pleasure of speaking to attorneys at the Colorado Bar Association's Technology & Law Policy Section. Please contact Brock Wood or Bennett Sigmond, if the topic interests you, or call me, John Gaudio, at 303-870-1044. |
