Dennis Prager on Happiness Versus Satisfaction

Today on Dennis Prager's Happiness Hour, he made the point that you don't have to be satisfied to be happy.

By John Gaudio,

It's not in our nature to be satisfied.  That shouldn't keep us from being happy.  Happiness is a choice.  Dennis suggests that you find sources of happiness where you can, even though you may not be satisfied.

"At least act happy."

He also talks about those people who constantly complain.  "Imagine that every time you complain, you're punching someone it the face."  That doesn't mean we shouldn't tell our friends when we're dissatisfied with something.  That's part of being friends.  It does mean we shouldn't constantly complain.

We all have an obligation to be happy, in spite of the fact that we're often not satisfied.  It makes a huge difference in our lives, and the lives of those around us.

Most poignant on today's show was a caller who's restricted to her wheelchair.  She's very unsatisfied with her limitations, and doesn't like the fact that her husband has had to learn to do her hair and her makeup for her.  They choose to laugh about the problems with her makeup, while she remains very happy and grateful for her life.

God bless her.
