President Carter pushed legislation to make homes more affordable. President Clinton took it further. Their intentions were good, but as my father taught me years ago, the road to hell is paved with good intentions. Government mandates caused banks to make ill advised loans to people who couldn't afford them.
In 2003, President Bush pushed for reform to correct this problem. Democrats stopped him in his tracks. In 2005, John McCain pushed for reform and the controls required to stop the bleeding. Again, Nancy Pelosi and the rest of the Democrats shot him down as well.
Now Barack Obama blames eight years of George Bush's policies for the difficulty in which we find ourselves. In fact Bush tried to correct the problem, as did McCain. It was the party of Senator Barack Obama that created this problem, and perpetuates it.
I have faith in the people of this country. No matter what the pollsters say, We The People are smarter than they think. We, not the pollsters, not the media, not the Chicago Political Machine, will choose our next president. Vote your conscience. Vote for what is right, and encourage your friends to do the same!
