Obama's Pearl Harbor. Health Care Reform Vote Awakens a Sleeping Giant

Just as the "victory" at Pearl Harbor inspired the American People to defeat Fascism, the battle "won" last night by Nancy Pelosi and Barack Obama inspires us to defeat those Socialist Democrats who choose to ignore their constituents & our Constitution.

John Gaudio is a Reagan Conservative and businessman working to defeat Obama Care and elect responsible representatives who recognize that the government exists to serve the people.By John Gaudio,

"[March 21, 2010], a day that will live in infamy."

I paraphrase the words of FDR, for they apply here as they did in 1941.  The American People like playing by the rules, and just as the December 7, 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor broke the rules of war, the March 21, 2010 attack on our Constitution, our health care system, our unborn children, and the people of this great nation, broke the rules by which We the People, agree to be governed.  Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, and Barack Obama have demonstrated their desire to act as the ruling class, not as the servants of those people who elected them.  We must, and we will, remove them from office this November, and in 2012.

The time has come for us to rally around, and reshape, the Republican Party.  Last Tuesday I offered to represent my precinct based on this...

I am a conservative Republican, and will vote for those candidates who support less government, lower taxes, Right to Life, and literal interpretations of the constitutions of the United Sates and the State of Colorado.

I believe that Republicans missed the boat when we, as a party, breeched Newt Gingrich’s contract with America.  We must win back our majorities in both the US and Colorado Houses and Senates, and we must repeal the unconstitutional new taxes imposed on us by Governor Bill Ritter, our Colorado House and Senate, and four of our Supreme Court Justices.

If you choose me to represent you, I will cast my votes to put the most conservative Republican candidates on this November’s ballot, in order to give us clear choices, and start the process of truly reducing government spending and control.

I am honored to have been elected by the members of my precinct to represent them as a delegate at all three of our conventions.  One even wanted me to run for governor. :-)

I agree with Hugh Hewitt and Duane Patterson, we must support the Republican Party.  However, that support must not be simply through blind contributions to the GOP, in the hope that our Republican leaders will do the right thing.  It must be in the trenches, working to choose conservative candidates, and fighting tooth and nail those Republicans who believe we need to move to the center to be more electable.  It was that move toward the center in 2008 that got us into this mess.

Please look at the articles linked below.  The time has come for we, the people, to talk with our neighbors, point out the terrible direction the current leadership of the Democratic Party has taken our country, and willingly embrace those disenfranchised Democrats who believe not in a socialist country, but in a country where We, the People, as John F. Kennedy said, "Ask not what your country can do for you.  Ask what you can do for your country."

RE: Obama's Pearl Harbor. Health Care Reform Vote Awakens a Sleeping Giant

[I understand your frustration, but vehemently disagree with your proposed tactics and prediction. JG]

This is just the beginning if we can not make congress listen to us, and there will bad things comming on our part (the people) to make them listen.

1. everybody stop paying taxes. We the people do not have representation.

2. a revolution where we pick up arms and fight for our government  back. we did it before against the British we can do it again. the T.E.A. party is just the beginning. and I will lie down my life for our children to have a better America.

Believe it or not these 2 thing will happen.

[John Gaudio here.  I most strongly disagree.  We have the ability to vote these people out.  If you choose not to pay taxes you may well pay with serious consequences.  If you take up arms rather than arming yourself with the tools to elect those with whom you agree, our current problems will seem very small by comparison.  Our US Constitution is designed to allow bloodless revolutions every time we have elections.  November is soon enough.  Vote to fire them.]

RE: Obama's Pearl Harbor. Health Care Reform Vote Awakens a Sleeping Giant

John, I don't entirely follow the logic.

John, you write:

"Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, and Barack Obama have demonstrated their desire to act as the ruling class, not as the servants of those people who elected them."

As you know, I'm not a conservative republican, but I am very much committed to having a rational, evidence-based world view.  And in that light, I just don't understand the claim above.

I am perfectly willing to acknowledge that you and I have different views on what is the right direction for heath care policy and, no doubt, on other issues as well.  That's simply a fact.  Further, there's nothing wrong with differences of opinion nor with robust debates on how to resolve differences.  But I don't find the statement above as factually accurate.

Consider: I am one of "those people who elected them" and, while I would have much more preferred a robust public option such as Medicare for everyone, I am pleased to see tangible changes that, to me (and I acknowledge, not to you) head in the right direction.  So, in this case, they were acting as my servants, pushing in a direction I would push.  And I'm not a single, non-representative outlier.  Remember, these people were voted into majority position in all three branches of government, not just by me, but by a majority of voters.  They are acting as servants to those millions of voters.

Admittedly, they are not acting as you would direct your servant, and you have every right to want them replaced by folks that would act as such.  But I don't follow the logic that would conclude from this that they "have demonstrated their desire to act as the ruling class."  (In fact, one could probably make the exact opposite point: that had they had such a desire, they would not have spent a year seeking rebublican support; rather, they would have simply used their majority position to push through a public option.)

[from John Gaudio:  Andy, it's great to hear from you.  I too enjoy good intelligent debate, and am happy to address your eloquently presented points.

Barak Obama ran as a centrist, and promised a new level of bipartisan cooperation.  He, and his allies in Congress, proceeded to reject all input from the Republicans, block every Republican proposal, and falsely claim that the Republicans had no ideas and no solutions.  He promised transparency in government, and his allies created bills of unprecedented length, then forced votes on said bills before they could be read, much less seriously debated.

The people objected loudly, and were ignored.  Instead of listening to the people, Nancy Pelosi said, "But we have to pass the [health care ] bill so that you can find out what is in it."  Is that the statement of a civil servant, or the statement of a would be civil master, telling her subjects they'll get used to doing what they're told?

Last Monday Nancy Pelosi's approval rating had dropped to eleven percent.  Harry Reid's had dropped to eight percent.  While you may approve of what they did, clearly the vast majority of the American people do not.

They took a year, not to seek Republican support, but to pass the agenda of a far left minority at all costs, and those costs are considerable.  They resorted to bribery, buying the votes of Senators and House members with the very earmarks Barack Obama promised to veto.  Their "majority position" was not sufficient to pass this legislation without resorting to both this bribery and the "nuclear option."  There was NO bipartisan support.  Zero Republicans voted for this bill.  There was, however, bipartisan opposition.

This bill is not about health care, so much as it is about the acquisition of power.  Obama, Pelosi, and Reid are Statists.  They want big government that runs our lives.  I want liberty, and a very small government that does only what our founders designed it to do.  Dennis Prager puts it eloquently in his statement, "The biggert the government, the smaller the citizen."

That said, I am delighted to see differing opinions like yours and mine debated openly and with civility.  That tradition goes back to the time of our founders, and beyond, and I thank you for your comments.]
