| | May 06, 2008 | | Some people find it hard to believe, but awesome as it is, Google still is far from perfect. Here's just one example of something that doesn't seem to make sense. | by John Gaudio, Posted 3:58 PM. Found by Google at 2:04 AM, May 7th. (approx. 10 hours) I posted an article Sunday night at 9:08PM, and began looking the next morning to see when it would appear on Google. As of noon on Monday it hadn't been indexed, and I got busy doing other things. A few minutes ago I checked again, and found that Google was displaying it prominently at position 3 for a search on Michael Lenzini's Internet Marketing Class. I clicked on the Cached link to see when Google had picked it up, and saw two things that were very strange. First, Google claimed to have cached the page on May 1, three days before I posted it, and two, the cached page didn't include the article for which I had been searching. Still, if I clicked on the actual link, it took me to the right article. Bottom line, Google is wonderful, and yet it still makes mistakes. | | |

| | February 08, 2008 | | If you want lots of people to find your content, use different terms to make your message easier to find. Internet Findablity is greatly improved by saying the same thing in different ways. | by John Gaudio, Posted 5:30 PM. Picked up by Google, 4:00 AM, 02/09/08. (10.5 hours) Today, when I searched Google for the word blogsite, ABetterBlogsite.com came up number 4, and number 27, of 739,000 pages. When I searched Google for the two word phrase blog site, without quotes, we were nowhere to be found in the top 50. Why? I prefer the term blogsite, so I use that all the time. I have to remind myself to use the two word version, blog site, as well. Both are acceptable, but by using just the one form, I hurt my Internet Findability. People looking for a blogsite find me easily, but people looking for a blog site, aren't likely to find me at all. What alternate ways of saying the same thing should you be incorporating in your blog sites and web sites? Think about it. Think too about alternate, even incorrect spellings that are common. I don't suggest you misspell your name in a post, that makes you look unprofessional. I do suggest you add short items telling people that your name is often misspelled, and pointing out both the correct and incorrect spellings. This way you still look professional, and you're still found when people misspell your name. Say the same thing in different ways, to greatly improve your Internet Findability. | | |
