Google Picked UP Blog.StaffScapes.com in Just One Day.

On November 15th we went live with Blog.StaffScapes.com. To my surprise, Google had indexed over 30 pages from it on November 16th, but in the early life of a new URL, Google tends to churn a bit. On the 19th it was invisible again. Today it's back.

We know Blogsites work well over the long haul, but how long does it take to get them off the ground?  This depends on a couple of things.  Using a domain name that's already being indexed by Google,  or a new sub domain name associated with such a domain, seems to speed up the process.  Even a new domain is typically found in thirty to ninety days.

Google has long been known for the Google Sandbox and the Google Dance.  These terms describe how Google determines where a site ranks at any given time.  The Google sandbox refers primarily to what happens in the early life of a site.  The Google dance happens periodically, over and over, forever.

To see how much of our new blogsite, Blog.StaffScapes.com, was being included in Google's index, we went to Google with the query,  site:blog.staffscapes.com.  Note there's no space after the colon.  This type of query can also be used to find information on a specific site.  For example, try Googling site:wikipedia.org findability to see what  Google knows about the word findability, as used on wikipedia.org.

So, Blog.Staffscapes.com became visible on November 15th.  On the 16th Google knew just over 30 pages.  Two days later, in the sandbox, Google didn't find any pages on it, and today, Google has rediscovered two pages.  Where will it go from here?
