Good Sound for Video

A quick You Tube video with tips on getting the best sound for your video. At EntConnect we used two wireless mics, and one wired mic, all connected through a mixer.

Sound is arguably the most important part of any video.  Disagree?  Which do you think makes it easier to follow most presentations, listening without watching, or watching without listening?  Unless the subject matter is very visual, like putting together a book shelf, I think you'll find more information comes in through your ears, than through your eyes.

The microphone on a camcorder is OK for some things, but you're often much better off to use an external microphone, or several external microphones and a mixer.  When recording a presentation I like to have a lavaliere microphone on the presenter, that's a mic that typically clips on the presenter's collar or tie, and a hand held microphone which can be held close to the mouth of persons asking questions.

Good audio holds the video together, creates continuity, and conveys most the information, most of the time.
