Bob Schaffer for Colorado Senate

Bob Schaffer is my choice to replace Senator Wayne Allard as Colorado's next Senator. He supports this country with his liberty, his fortune, and his sacred honor.

Introduced by Salem Denver's Brian Taylor, as a "great defender of education, and a great defender of life," Bob Schaffer spoke last Monday at the Battleground States Talkers Tour with Dennis Prager, Hugh Hewitt, Michael Medved, and others.  What impressed me most was his call to service.  While other political candidates tell us what they'll give to the American people, Bob calls on each of us to be the givers, to give our very best in this holy cause of liberty.

Bob Schaffer said that Wayne Allard told him, "I was 12 points down the week before the election and I won by four."  Bill Owens overheard this and said "That sounds great!  I was nine points down before the election, and I ended up being the governor."  Then Bob Schaffer assured us, "We've got Udall right where we want him then, right?"

Bob spoke of his Ukrainian mother, who immigrated through Canada, and of his grandparents who worked in the Detroit auto plants.  For them, that was heaven on earth.  Most of his relatives who were unable to leave the Ukraine are dead, starved deliberately in the thirties by Stalin, or sent off to the work camps, never to be seen again.

"Only in America can the son of somebody like that serve in the U.S. House of Representatives or consider running for the United States Senate.  I'm not gonna forget that story."

"I see more decisions, these days, being made in Washington D.C., that seem to be leading us in the direction of that country, that my grandparents left.  The reason I'm running, and the reason I know all of you are here is because you want a nation that looks more like the country that my grandparents came to....  I'm not gonna forget that story ever.  When I am confronted with decisions that lead us either in the old direction or the new direction of freedom, I will choose freedom every time, and it is the key difference between the guy I'm running against, and me...."

In 1775, one of Bob's greatest American heroes, Patrick Henry, debated "whether the Virginians should fight, whether freedom was something that they could achieve....  The polls were  against them, they said....  But Henry, when arguing against two previous speakers who said it was hopeless, said this.... 'Now they tell us, Sir, that we are weak, unable to cope with so formidable an adversary.  But when shall we be stronger?  Will it be the next week or the next year?  Will it be when we are totally disarmed, and when a British guard shall be stationed in every house?  Shall we gather strength by irresolution and inaction?  Shall we acquire the means of effectual resistance by lying supinely on our backs, and hugging the delusive phantom of hope, until our enemies shall have bound us hand and foot?

Sir, we are not weak if we make a proper use of those means which the God of nature hath placed in our power, the millions of people armed in the holy cause of liberty, and in a country such as that which we possess, are invincible by any force which our enemy can send against us.  Besides, Sir, we shall not fight our battles alone....  There is a just God who presides over the destinies of nations, who will raise up friends to fight our battles for us.  The battle, Sir, is not to the strong alone.  It is to the vigilant, the active, the brave.' "

Bob then went on to say, "Now, friends, I think I'm looking at the millions of people armed in the holy cause of liberty, and now is the time for us to find those who are vigilant and active and brave to step forward and make sure that the next seven days in this election are ones that are met with everything we have to offer.  If you have any part of your life, left over, to contribute to the safety and security and the future of our country, I ask you to volunteer it over the next seven days.  If you have anything left of your liberty, to devote to the cause of justice and freedom and liberty in our country, I ask you to volunteer it, and to profess it, in the next seven days.  If you have anything left of your sacred honor, I would ask you to devote it to the holy cause of liberty, for which we fight today.

If you've not put a bumper sticker on your car yet, please do.  If you don't have a yard sign in your yard yet, please do.  If you haven't contributed yet, or can contribute more, please, BobSchafferforSenate.com, please do."

At that point the sound system failed briefly, and his last few words were lost.  Bob Schaffer is an outstanding and inspiring speaker, who understands that government is of the people, by the people, and for the people.  He will make a fine U.S. Senator, and will serve us well.

BTW, I had each speaker at the Battle Ground States Talkers Tour sign a Model Release, and gave each a dollar according to the terms of that release.  Bob Schaffer returned his dollar, to avoid even the appearance of an unreported campaign contribution.  The next day Madonna and I contributed $51.00 dollars through Bob's website, all according to Hoyle.

When you can trust a man in small things, you can trust him in big things.  Go get him, Bob, you've got Mark Udall right where you want him!
