EntConnect, (Entrepreneurial Connections) | A Better Blogsite

Each spring, EntConnect brings high tech entrepreneurs to Denver, Colorado. There we learn, teach, ski, eat, drink, and build both personal and business relationships. EntConnect grew out of EntCon, which grew from Midnight Engineering Magazine.

Please join us for EntConnect 2007, March 29 - April 1, in Denver,
Colorado.

EntConnect grew from EntCon, (Entrepreneur's Conference), which was created
by Bill Gates. Not the Bill Gates who runs Microsoft, but William E.
Gates, the creator of Midnight Engineering Magazine.

Look here for tips, thoughts, resources, and other musings
of Entrepreneurial Engineers, and those who share their interests.

Good Sound for Video

A quick You Tube video with tips on getting the best sound for your video. At EntConnect we used two wireless mics, and one wired mic, all connected through a mixer.
by John Gaudio, Posted 2:05 PM

Sound is arguably the most important part of any video. Disagree? Which do you think makes it easier to follow most presentations, listening without watching, or watching without listening? Unless the subject matter is very visual, like putting together a book shelf, I think you'll find more information comes in through your ears, than through your eyes.

The microphone on a camcorder is OK for some things, but you're often much better off to use an external microphone, or several external microphones and a mixer. When recording a presentation I like to have a lavaliere microphone on the presenter, that's a mic that typically clips on the presenter's collar or tie, and a hand held microphone which can be held close to the mouth of persons asking questions.

Good audio holds the video together, creates continuity, and conveys most the information, most of the time.

At EntConnect I used simple ambient lighting, but it's possible to get much more sophisticated.
by John Gaudio, Posted 2:00 PM

Lighting makes a huge difference. In general the more light, and the more even the light, the better. When taping someone doing a power point presentation it's helpful to balance the light on the presenter with the light coming off the screen. That way both can show up clearly in a shot. Of course you also want to avoid shining additional light on the screen, when possible, and avoid bright lights behind your presenter, as that complicates things as well.

Nancy's not stopping here though, as she plans to have Sassy Golf franchises all over the country.
by John Gaudio, Posted 1:58 AM, Eastern

Nancy Collins is clearly proud of her ladies golf league, Sassy Golf, and filled me in on it last month at the Denver Golf Expo. She's not only starting the league, but creating the infrastructure necessary to let others create their own Sassy Golf leagues with the purchase of her "inexpensive" franchise packages.

Check out the video on the left, and her website, linked below, for more information.

See Also

Sassy Golf
A Women's Golf League

More video from my post on The Denver Golf Expo
Learn more about the Denver Golf Expo

Official Site of The Denver Golf Expo
Mark and Lynn Cramer put on the Denver Golf Expo each February.
