Thank you, Audi. I know it wasn't your primary purpose, but the image you created of the "Green Police" was the greatest advocacy ad I could have imagined, and while I, like you, believe firmly in protecting our environment, I greatly fear what those who want to control our lives might do in the name of conservation.

Cap and Tax appears to be dead, but in addition to those who deliberately lie to us, there are many millions who honestly believe those lies. We must show these Global Warming / Climate Change / Cap and Trade con games for the frauds that they are. Your Super Bowl commercial pokes fun at the "Green Police" in a way that should help those who believe "The sky is falling," to look at the real data, and to learn how Al Gore, Nancy Pelosi, and others might try to control our lives.

I've also included the trailer for the movie, "Not Evil Just Wrong", which shows the fallacy of Al Gore's "An Inconvenient Truth", and points out, among other things, that people are more important than birds. Links below will also help you to learn the truths that Al Gore really finds inconvenient.

Please look at the facts. Know that Al Gore does not personally practice what he preaches, and recognize the very real danger associated with blindly following those who would control every aspect of our lives, in the name of going Green, and to the loss not only of our freedom, but of our very ability to survive and to thrive.

Dennis Prager has a great talent for expressing giant truths in very short sentences.

One of the great thinkers of our time, Dennis Prager, strives for clarity over agreement. Dennis, and his good friend and producer, Allen Estrin, have created Prager University, a collection of five minute videos on YouTube. Their motto, "Give us five minutes, and we'll give you a semester."

I've met Dennis on several occasions, and produced a video of his debate last year with self proclaimed Progressive, David Sirota. "What's Better for America, Liberal or Conservative Ideas?"

Dennis' quote "The Bigger the Government the Smaller the Citizen." reminds me on several levels of one of my other favorite quotes by another outstanding American, Thomas Jefferson, who said nearly two hundred years ago, "The government is best which governs least,"

God bless them both.

John Gaudio Takes First for Regis Jesuit High School in Yesterday's Chatfield JV Invitational Wrestling Tournament, 189 Pound Weight Class

Yesterday, January 30th, 2010, Madonna and I had the pleasure of watching our son, John Gaudio III, win first place at the Chatfield JV Invitational Wrestling Tournament, 189 pound weight class, Littleton CO.

Nothing makes a father prouder than to see his son succeed, and succeed John did yesterday, as he took first place for Regis Jesuit High School in his 189 pound weight class at the Chatfield JV Invitational Wrestling Tournament.

After receiving a bye in the first round, John defeated Ben Stoneking in the second round, Corky Phillips in the third round, and Leondro Lara, in the fourth and final round. Corky Phillips then went on to win his next two matches, taking third.

John's championship match against Leondro Lara was a hard fought battle by both wrestlers, finally ending with a takedown by John in overtime.

Many thanks to John's Mom, Madonna, Regis Jesuit High School, John's coaches, Chatfield High School, the rest of the wrestlers, and especially to our son, John.

You make us very proud! :-)

HB 1192 is Unconstitutional, and Will Cost Colorado Jobs, Money, and Local Businesses, if the Colorado Legislature is Short Sighted Enough to Pass it.

Hundreds of Colorado citizens, including me, attended committee hearings yesterday for HB1192 and a dozen other bad bills proposed by Governor Ritter's office. Please tell your representatives to avoid shooting each of us in the foot, the knee, or worse!

HB 1192 would tax software and software services in ways never before attempted in Colorado. Not only is this bill clearly unconstitutional, it creates totally new taxes, not even pretending to be fees, as did Governor Ritter's new taxes on automobile and trailer registrations. It is ill conceived and will not generate a nickel of net revenue, but will instead cost Colorado jobs, local businesses, and the very real revenues that many of those jobs and businesses produce today.

Businesses are the Geese that provide all of us, including the government, the golden eggs, (revenues) that keep us all going. HB 1192, even more than most of these other bills that Governor Ritter and the Democratically controlled Colorado House and Senate are trying to shove down our throats, will kill many of our geese, and greatly sicken nearly all of them, driving many businesses out of Colorado, and drastically cutting the revenue that those jobs and businesses currently generate.

My friend, Robert Spalding, in his email to House Representative Jim Riesberg, jim.riesberg@house50.com, said "If you vote yes on this issue, you will wear that vote like a cheap suit for the rest of your hopefully short tenure in the Colorado Legislature.

If you vote no on the other hand, there will be other ways to either cut the budget, or raise revenues that are FAR less onerous than placing a new tax on virtually every business and household in this state.

Although the language of HB1192 claims to remove an exemption, it does nothing of the sort. It directly adds taxes to an entirely new class of business via adding new definitions to the plain meaning of Tangible Property.

Not only that, the new definition is so vague, that it is entirely possible that any software, or web service such as "free e-mail" hosted on servers in our state could fall under the new tax.

The State Constitution (TABOR Amendment) prohibits raising or assessing any new taxes without voter approval."

In New Jersey, Virginia, and Massachusetts, politicians ignored the people they were elected to serve, and the people replaced them. States that had been solid blue, and voted for Obama in November of '08, voted red a year later. Colorado voters will remember how our representatives vote on these issues. Those who vote for bigger government and more taxes, will be replaced by those who favor less interference from the government, and more freedom. Vote wisely. "We The People," are watching you closely!

There's a company building advanced composite bridges right here in Denver, CO. Infrastructure Composites International, Infracomp.com, is finishing up a composite bridge for IDOT, the Illinois Department of Transportation, and the city of Fairview Heights. This project is part of the Innovative Bridge Research and Construction (IBRC) program administered by the Federal Highway Administration. The program's objective is to evaluate and introduce advanced materials and promising new technologies in an effort to rehabilitate the nation’s aging infrastructure.

The first three of the four sections of this 38ft long composite vehicular bridge have been trucked to Illinois. The last of the four sections leaves the plant tomorrow, to be delivered late this month, January 2010, for final assembly in Fairview Heights, Illinois, in collaboration with Keeley and Sons, contractors.

These lightweight composite bridges typically weigh 70-80% less than traditional steel or concrete bridges, making the installation of a complete bridge much faster, easier, and less expensive, when compared to installation of typical bridges. Pre fabricated bridges like these have a projected lifetime of 50-75 years, and can be installed at the site in one day, avoiding lengthy road shutdowns and traffic disruption with their associated costs.

In addition to complete bridges, this technology can be used to put new decks on older bridges, making it possible to re-rate those older bridges for a much greater traffic load than that for which they were originally designed. This solves a common problem with bridges built decades ago for lower load ratings. Why can these bridges be re-rated? Because the existing structure now has to support only 20-30% of the static deck load for which it was originally designed, leaving a great deal more capacity for increased traffic loads, thus eliminating the need for a new bridge. This makes it possible to save tremendous amounts of money, time, and labor when compared with the cost of replacing existing bridges with conventional steel and concrete technologies.

Air America Shuts Down, Will Declare Chapter 7 Bankruptcy

Does Air America's decision to pull the plug and file Chapter 7 Bankruptcy have anything to do with the Massachusetts Miracle and the Supreme Court's decision to overturn the McCain-Feingold Campaign Finance Act? I think it does.

Air America is pulling the plug, closing its doors, and preparing to sell off what assets it has as it prepares to file Chapter 7 bankruptcy in the next few days, according to the statement on its website. (Normally I'd just link to the site, and that link does appear below, but I've quoted their statement here as well, just in case that link stops working before you read this.)

Air America's experiment in "Progressive" talk radio, has proven valuable in at least one sense. It has demonstrated that the vast majority of the American people have no desire to listen to those who trash the traditional values we hold dear. It's good to understand those with whom you disagree, so I have listened, on occasion, and for short periods of time, to Progressive Radio AM 760 in the Denver-Boulder market. For the most part I found it painfully dull. Many of the hosts were rude, crude, and extremely intolerant.

Conservatives tend to be happy, both with themselves, and with the world. The progressives I heard on Air America were, for the most part, unhappy and bitter. They wanted to "fundamentally change" this great nation of ours. I once heard Dennis Prager ask something along the lines of, if you love your wife, would you want to fundamentally change her? So, if progressives love the United States, why would they want to fundamentally change this country? It seems that some progressives love the idea of what they think they can turn us into, while hating both what we have been, and what we are. The progressives I heard spent too much time whining, and there's very little market for whining.

That sort of programming leads to low listenership, which inevitably leads to low ad revenue, which, in the case of Air America, leads to the end of a progressive experiment in talk radio, and Chapter 7 Bankruptcy.

President Obama was elected by a slim margin, and he accomplished that only by promising to be a moderate, to be bipartisan, to be open and transparent. Then he broke every one of those promises. He won with the help of the McCain-Feingold Campaign Reform Act, which effectively muzzled many American citizens by dramatically restricting their right to constitutionally guaranteed freedom of speech. That right was reaffirmed for us today by the US Supreme Court's ruling that McCain-Feingold was unconstitutional.

Two days ago, the unimaginable Massachusetts Miracle demonstrated that even the most liberal among us, the people of the commonwealth of Massachusetts, were fed up with President Obama's broken promises, and progressive, or should I say socialist, agenda. Scott Brown 41, representing the 41st vote against Obamacare in the US Senate, was elected to fill the seat occupied for 47 years by Ted Kennedy. Today, Nancy Pelosi has admitted that for now at least, President Obama's Health Care plan is not going to pass.

Today, with their "progressive" world view falling down around them. The board of directors of Air America decided to end their failed experiment, to close the doors, turn off the lights, and most importantly, to stop supplying the misguided whining provided by their "progressive" hosts. To paraphrase the Rabbi in Fiddler on the roof, May God bless and keep them, far away from us.

May Air America rest, quietly, in peace.

It is with the greatest regret, on behalf of our Board, that we must announce that Air America Media is ceasing its live programming operations as of this afternoon, and that the Company will file soon under Chapter 7 of the Bankruptcy Code to carry out an orderly winding-down of the business.

The very difficult economic environment has had a significant impact on Air America's business. This past year has seen a "perfect storm" in the media industry generally. National and local advertising revenues have fallen drastically, causing many media companies nationwide to fold or seek bankruptcy protection. From large to small, recent bankruptcies like Citadel Broadcasting and closures like that of the industry's long-time trade publication Radio and Records have signaled that these are very difficult and rapidly changing times.

Those companies that remain are facing audience fragmentation as a result of new media technologies, are often saddled with crushing debt, and have generally found it difficult to obtain operating or investment capital from traditional sources of funding. In this climate, our painstaking search for new investors has come close several times right up into this week, but ultimately fell short of success.

With radio industry ad revenues down for 10 consecutive quarters, and reportedly off 21% in 2009, signs of improvement have consisted of hoping things will be less bad. And though Internet/new media revenues are projected to grow, our expanding online efforts face the same monetization and profitability challenges in the short term confronting the Web operations of most media companies

When Air America Radio launched in April, 2004 with already-known personalities like Al Franken and then-unknown future stars like Rachel Maddow, it was the only full-time progressive voice in the mainstream broadcast media world. At a critical time in our nation's history — when dissent on issues such as the Iraq war were often denounced as "un-American" — Air America and its talented team helped millions of Americans remember the importance of compelling discussion about the most pivotal events and decisions of our generation.

Through some 100 radio outlets nationwide, Air America helped build a new sense of purpose and determination among American progressives. With this revival, the progressive movement made major gains in the 2006 mid-term elections and, more recently, in the election of President Barack Obama and a strongly Democratic Congress.

Laws have changed for the better thanks to this revival.....but all the same our company cannot escape the laws of economics. So we intend a rapid, orderly closure over the next few days. All current employees will be paid through today, January 21. A severance package will be offered tomorrow to full-time current employees with more than six months of tenure.

We will strive to assist affiliates and partners in achieving a smooth transition. Starting at 6 pm EST today, we will provide our affiliates, listeners and users a selection of encore programming until 9 pm EST on Monday, January 25, at which time Air America programming will end.

Supreme Court Upholds First Amendment by Striking Down Much of the McCain-Feingold Campaign Finance Act

Let us use our newly regained freedom to speak out loudly in the 2010 elections, to replace those legislators, governors, and judges who would ignore our Constitution, with those who will strive to follow it, as it was written, and amended.

The first Amendment to the US Constitution reads "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

McCain-Feingold attempted to muzzle the voice of the people, by restricting our ability speak publicly as individuals, groups, and corporations. What is scary is the fact that this decision was by the slimmest margin possible. Five to four.

Was the unconstitutional abridgement of our freedom of speech, in the presidential election of 2008, a significant part of the reason that President Obama was elected? I think it was. Did President Obama's election make possible the appointment of one of the most liberal Justices currently on the Supreme Court? Of that there is no question.

The Constitution of the United States is not a "Living Document." It is a brilliantly constructed contract defining the relationship of the people of the United States, and our government. Within it there are provisions for the people to amend our Constitution, and it is through those provisions, and those provisions only, that our Constitution can legitimately be changed.

This ruling is a victory for all who believe in the principles laid down in our Constitution, and all who swear to uphold that Constitution. Let us use our newly regained freedom to speak out loudly in the 2010 elections, to replace those legislators, governors, and judges who would ignore our Constitution, with those who will strive to follow it, as it was written, and amended. Let us also speak loudly, in the 2012 elections, to replace President Obama with a strong conservative who also believes in the Constitution as written and amended, and who will honor the presiential oath to "...preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."

Scott Brown 41 Beats Marcia Coakley in Massachusetts!

Scott Brown ran as Scott Brown 41, emphasizing that in the US Senate, he would cast the deciding 41st vote, putting an end to Obama Care. He won decisively, defeating Democratic candidate Marcia Coakley.

The impossible is only impossible until you do it. A month ago very few people believed that such an upset was possible, but the people have spoken, and Scott Brown is scheduled to occupy one of "The People's seat[s]" for the commonwealth of Massachusetts, starting tomorrow. In his acceptance speech, Scott Brown was gracious toward his opponent, toward the interim Senator he is replacing, and toward both the wife, and the memory, of the late Senator Ted Kennedy.

The impossible is only impossible until it happens. Massachusetts would never elect a Republican to the "Kennedy" seat, unless the strongly democratic population were thoroughly frustrated with Obama and the heavy handed Democratic majority in Congress!

It's not over yet, but today's polls now show a strong majority for Scott Brown in the Massachusetts Senatorial election. It certainly helps that Scott Brown is a great candidate. When asked if he was willing to cast the vote that might shoot down President Obama's health care plan, from Ted Kennedy's seat, Brown respectfully responded that it is not Kennedy's seat, it is not the Democrat's seat. It is the people's seat.

More than that, the election of a Republican to one of Massachusetts two Senate seats, at a time when Obamacare hangs by a one vote thread in the Senate, sends a powerful message that even in the strongly Democratic commonwealth of Massachusetts, the people strongly resent what Obama, Pelosi, and Reid are trying to shove down the throats of the American people.

President Obama lied to us by running as a middle of the road candidate, promising transparency in government, promising bipartisanship, and promising to veto anything with earmarks. He is now ruling from the far left, refusing to allow us to see the process of creating this mess called Health Care Reform, supporting the most partisan politics I have ever seen, and signing terrible pork laden, spending bills. Obama came out to support Scott Brown's opponent, Martha Coakley, and the polls responded with a surge for Scott Brown.

Thank God the people of the United States are coming to see President Obama for what he really is, and voting to bring an end to his version of "Hope and Change."

(Addendum, 01/19/2010) I just found a short article by David Sirota, claiming that a Scott Brown victory in Massachusetts could "Strengthen Progressives on Health Care." Please follow the link below, and let me know through your comments if you think the Democrats might actually use reconciliation to pass President Obama's health care bill if Scott Brown wins today's election.
